Iceland Photo Tours
If you've been to Iceland (the country, not the frozen foods emporium - Ed) already, you'll be itching to go back. And if you haven't before then you're really in for a treat. Being like nowhere else on Earth, thanks to a stunning and diverse volcanic landscape that's largely unspoilt, there are unique photographic opportunities galore. It truly is the sort of place to fully recharge the creative batteries.
As it sounds, Iceland Photo Tours is a company specialising in landscape photography tours and workshops. It welcomes enthusiastic photographers with varying levels of experience - so amateurs alongside professionals. The promise when you book is that you will exceed your expectations in capturing many stunning and unique photographs of the country.
The photography tours are led by native photographer Haukur Snorrason, armed with 20 years' experience of Icelandic landscape photography, and whose photo library can be viewed at www.photos.is. The photographer describes himself humorously as 'the Fred Flintstone of photography', since he mostly still uses film (Pentax 6x7 and Hasselblad X Pan) for landscape and aerial work, although he has recently started to use digital for landscape as well. The company - Look North Travel, which operates Iceland Photo Tours - is run in conjunction with his wife and General Manager Hadda Bjork Gisladottir.
"Iceland is wonderfully exotic, challenging and tough; the weather is unstable and so is the light," says Haukur. "The landscape is varied: green, black, white, volcanic, colourful. I enjoy working and travelling with people from all over the world and proudly present my favourite subject to them - namely Iceland and its wonderful nature."
There are 21 days to get ready for The Society of Photographers Convention and Trade Show at The Novotel London West, Hammersmith ...
which starts on Wednesday 15th January 2025
