The Societies of Photographers
However experienced you are and however far you are into your photographic career, the seminars organised by us are designed to aid you in better running your photographic business. Whilst primarily you're there for the advice offered by practising photographers, an added benefit is the opportunity to meet industry figures and network with fellow photographers in your area; and who knows when it might be advantageous to call on them for support? Seminars also offer the chance to have your work critiqued.
Head online (swpp.co.uk/seminars/) for a list of forthcoming training days, taking place across the country from now right through to the end of November and stretching from Exeter in Devon right up to Perthshire in Scotland. Learn from the masters, including Damian McGillicuddy, Damien Lovegrove, John Denton, Sue Altenburg, Rick Ferro and a host of other big names, with topics covered including 'Light, Pose, Shoot, Retouch', 'One Light Flash' and 'Understanding Ambient Light'. If you want further help in finding the nearest one to you, there is even an interactive map! At the time of writing there were some 53 training days listed for the remainder of this year.
Beyond this there are the Mini Conventions, open to members and non-members alike. These take the form of a Trade Show and free Masterclasses from 'names' including Catherine Connor, Damien Lovegrove again and Kevin Mullins.
Whilst the main annual Convention will be taking place in London in January 2014, we've also added a new and exciting photography convention in the beautiful island of Jersey for this year. Again this is open to both members and non-members, with tickets from just £10, and free entrance to the Trade Show. There is the further option of purchasing a Get on course... for success!
two-day Masterclass pass at £15, with location shoots around St Helier planned. For example these include a John Denton 'Harbour Safari' priced at £30, plus a 'Superclass' from Richard P Walton priced at £50. It all takes place at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel from 31 October to 1 November.

You can also book seminars, training days and masterclasses via the website, which additionally carries all the relevant small print and T&Cs, so is well worth inspection. It appears that when it comes to photographic training, there is very little to lose and potentially everything to gain.
