There are both scheduled and tailor-made tours on offer. These take in such visual delights as black sand beaches, lava fields, colourful mountains, endless waterfalls, glaciers, hot springs and geysers, whilst wild rivers are navigated with the aid of a 4x4 vehicle. Group size is limited to a maximum of eight, with photographers joining the tours from all over the world, though the majority are from Europe and the US.

Handily the enterprising couple also run a guesthouse - 'Hirfunes' - which serves as an excellent base for landscape photographers due to its unique location. This is described as being practically on the doorstep of the interior routes to all the major sights in Iceland, such as Landmannalaugar, Laki craters, Langisjor lake, south and north Fjallabak routes, Skaftafell and Vatnajokull national park, Glacier lagoon and the amazing black sand beaches near Vik.

The tours operate all year, specialising in ice caves and aurora in the winter and remote highland pearls in the summer and autumn. For more details and to read testimonials from previous tour participants head to www.phototours.is
