What motivated you to start in the industry?
I'm an artistic person who was always drawn to creative rather than academic subjects at school. I would occasionally bunk off school so I could ride the racehorses in Lambourn; horses were my world. Pets and animals are a huge part of my life still; I've enjoyed being around horses, dogs and cats since childhood – I have a natural ability to notice everyday interactions between people and animals, picture the perfect moment, then form a photograph in my mind.

Fast forward to the age of 17; I had my first ride as an amateur jockey at Chepstow, in a ladies’ race on the flat. I had a few more rides on the flat, then travelled to America to work for a well-known trainer and their racehorses as a work-rider. I returned home a year later to run my own livery yard, which I continued to do until my 30s, preparing and training show ponies for my brother and other young riders to enter national pony championships; my role was to turn them out immaculately. I've always strived for perfection; whatever I do in life and photography I do to the best of my abilities. There are no half measures with me.
